Well, I asked Lucas today if he knew he was going back to school tomorrow- his reply was "Shit." Then to my further horror.............. "No shit!" Oh that boy........ I told him to not say that anymore- but it was very very funny I must admit.
I took him to church and he did great at the Sunday school class at Calvary Baptist in Beaumont- I felt we needed to go to church after the conversation this morning :)
A little look into the day to day life of a normal everyday mom with a very special, nothing is normal about him, wonderful autistic son

Happy Thanksgiving!!!
Hello- Hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving! I posted late about the holiday because of my turkey coma, napping, and shopping that has kept me pre-occupied :) We had Thanksgiving at my new house and it was very nice......
I love my family and friends dearly and am so blessed and thankful to have them all in my life.

Bounce Zone = FUN!!!!!!
If you have little ones and live in the Beaumont area- you MUST check out the Bounce Zone!!! It is in Beaumont across from Wal Mart and is cheap and fun entertainment! It has 5 inflatable play areas and it is a blast for all ages of kiddos! We went today for a field trip and it was so much fun- I left my camera at home, but I would not have been able to use it anyway- I was being drug all over the place by Lucas- he had a ball.
We are going to try and go next week if he is feeling better- he has a cold today- but hopefully we will go next week with Yaya and Emma.

Pukey Lukey strikes again!!!
Just when you think your kiddo outgrows a nick name- think again. We used to call him Pukey Lukey for obvious reasons- he threw up daily, sometimes multiple times a day due to food aversions, texture issues, and crying too hard. Well he threw up all over daddy on Sunday night after too much wrestling, and he threw up all over himself and his bed last night at my house.
It is always soooooooooooooo much fun to clean up a pukey, sleepy, mad toddler at night :) Words just can't describe the fun; you just have to experience it for yourself to see! He cried for a solid hour while I cleaned him up, changed his clothes, his bedding and then after an hour my nerves were shot and I lured him into bed with M&M's- desperate times, desperate measures ....................
Anyway I cleaned him up again this morning but he still did not smell too great going to school- oh well I will scrub him down good tonight!

Can't believe the holidays are almost here!
Lukey will be out of school all next week- he does have a little therapy but not much- mommy needs to start thinking of fun stuff to do with him to keep him busy- he will be spending extra time with his dad for Thanksgiving so that will be a good way to spend the week- half with dad, half with mom.
We are having a small Thanksgiving get together at my house this year- I am excited- it will be the first holiday we will be having here. I can't wait to have everyone over for Thanksgiving day- I love nothing more than spending time with my family at my new home!
Still blowing my nose like crazy and not feeling 100% but getting better- I did get to spend time with Mark and his family yesterday for his birthday- we had a great time. I just avoided contact with his daughter to avoid getting her sick- it was hard to not hug on her- I missed not seeing her for 3 weeks!
Gotta brag about my boy: He walked up to his teacher Friday and said "I like your shirt". She said it was unprompted and shocked her! Shocked me too when I heard it- amazing that boy is............. no telling what all runs through his head.
Hope everyone has a great week.

Another cold.......... not a happy camper here :(
Well Lukey is stuck with fun ol' Mommy this weekend and I feel lousy. I just went to the Dr. about 3 weeks ago for this crud, nasal drainage, coughing, runny nose, sore throat, and I felt better about a week then it came back. I am really quite aggravated because my boyfriend's birthday is tomorrow and I was really looking forward to spending the day with his family to celebrate- but I will not be able to go since I am sick. His daughter just had a bad bout of pneumonia so I don't want to get her sick by going over there- oh well- bad timing stinks doesn't it!!!!
Lukey is obsessed with going outside lately- and of course he wants to go swing 100 X a day today and it is cold and windy- so I let him play outside a bit then made him stay in so that mommy could rest- well it sounds good in theory :) I will go to bed early- that is the best I can do with Lukey around- he is quite the explorer and my house is in shambles by the end of the day- oh well- I am feeling too lousy to care too much. Hope I get to feeling better soon..........takes a lot of energy to keep up with Little Man!

Lukey the escape artist..........
Well we moved Lukey into a big boy bed about 3 months ago and I placed two toddler rails on one side of the bed and pushed the bed up to the wall to keep him in the bed. Well he finally figured out that they were not attached, just slid under the mattress and he started pushing them completely out and onto the floor, therefore he is all over the room running, laughing, having a grand time until I come in! Well I tried telling him no don't get out of bed! Whatever- that is like talking to the wall........ he just repeated the whole process as soon as I would leave the room. I tried using packing tape to attach the rails to the head and foot boards- again he is too smart and found a weak point and busted out.
What is a mom to do- build a 12 foot X 12 foot crib to contain him in :)????? Tempting..................... I am going to try to safety pin the toddler rail straps to the mattress underneath and see if that will work- if not I will have to come up with other ideas. It does no good to take all the toys out of his room to keep him bored when he gets out of bed.............. he loves to sit in front of the night light and play with his shadow! That boy I tell you.........never never never dull!

Rain rain go away.........
It rained cats, dogs, horses, cows................ you name it- and the result was Lake Lumberton- in my back yard. Lucas even called it a lake when we left to go to school :) These are pics from my back yard- the water was about 2 feet deep in most places, and about 3 feet in others- I was thankful that I have flood insurance- luckily it did not get near my house- it stopped right at the edge of the patio/porch areas. My lawnmower was under water about a foot though- don't know if that will run again............
What is a boy to do when we are stuck in the house after school due to our yard needing a canoe? We ate some "par-mi-mickles" (that is Popsicle to everyone but Lucas), some wow-wi-pops (lollipops) and snacks- evident by the messy face in the pics! After snacks, mommy decided to try and make some Christmas cards in one part of the house and Lucas was busy in another- for a while- then he decided that he needed to "help". Here are some pics of him helping me make Christmas cards- so some of you will get homemade by Lukey cards this year. He did a great job and LOVED the glue stick- he used a lot of glue all over each card- he used it like a Crayon :) Anyway he did very well helping me and it kept him busy for over an hour- yeah!

A crazy weekend.........
I decided last Wednesday to have a garage sale to sell some of Lukey's old baby stuff like his crib, pack and play, stroller, etc. that I don't need anymore. So I have not blogged in a few days due to that craziness! It went well good old Mom came to help, thank goodness, and I made over $250 so I can't complain. Of course I used all the money to buy Lucas a new dresser and a new rocking chair for the front porch- I can't help it- I always spend the money on him!
He has a little runny nose and has had some itchy bumps on him over the past few days on and off- wondering if he inherited my crazy allergies? Hope not- poor baby!

Lucas, the thirsty artist
Lucas loves to color my front porch with sidewalk chalk- we have no driveway or sidewalk- so the porch and front door are a good alternative canvas. You have already seen him spell words on this porch like WONDER, so as you can see he is going back to the basics with some color scribbles.
The night before this, he woke up screaming at 130 am, always fun......... then he stayed awake a while after laughing and singing. I went in loaded with Benadryl and a clean diaper and he informed me that he was THIRSTY!!!!! He is almost 4 and has NEVER said thirsty before! Well you bet I ran to the kitchen at 300 am and made that boy some milk- he drank it all and I raved over him telling that- I was so excited. We are making slow but steady progress with him- I could not be more proud of him :)
For those parents who have speaking children and they work on your last nerve daily placing demands and barking orders- remember that I would love to hear Lucas speak his mind for just one hour of the day- it is a gift that most people simply take for granted.

Hmmmmmm, what can I get away with today???
That seems to be the question in Lukey's head all day everyday lately I am afraid to report :( We are soooooooo acting our age and testing limits on an hourly basis! Mommy is getting good though at getting him pinned into his car seat with no injuries to report- so that is good!
Pray that this testing phase does not last too long- 6-8 meltdowns a day is about all I can handle!

Happy Halloween from Dr. Lukey
We went to the Halloween Carnival they have yearly at Wesley Methodist Church in Bmt. and Lukey and his cousin Emma had a ball! Here are some pics from the fun evening: Emma was the cutest kitty ever, and Lukey was a medical doctor- he specializes in numbers and letters :) He LOVED the games, especially the cookie walk! He and Emma ran around those numbers forever- Lukey did not even care about the prizes- just the games. Yaya, Mimi, Rebecca, Aunt Jan and Uncle Jesse all went with us to help corral and take pictures. Lucas was the official candy inspector- he threw out any candy that he did not like to eat! It was like watching Hansel and Gretel leave a candy trail :)
Lucas also loved the pumpkin ring toss, the lollipop ring toss, the basketball hoops, and the bean bag toss. He ate enough lollipops to rot out all his baby teeth yesterday! We had a lot of fun.
